SWELLS - Prevailing swells are from the northwest, but swells all the way from the south Atlantic have been recorded on the south coast. Ireland catches more swell than anywhere else in Europe other than the deep water islands (Canaries, Azores & Madeira)

WINDS - Prevailing winds are from the southwest. A high pressure over Scotland will give the north & west coasts offshore winds.
